Glassware

When moving glass, one of the most important things to think about is securing the load beforehand. When transporting fragile goods simple cardboard box will not do. You need to fill the areas between your cargo and walls of the package with materials that will stop movement of the glass throughout transport. The best way to ensure that is to fill the box with Styrofoam or soft materials that will block potential jolting and protect your fragile load from cracking. Furthermore you can wrap your load with bubble foil, particularly all the elements that are fine and prone to damage. Secure the bubble wrap with Scotch tape just to be sure it will not loosen during transport. After covering, you need to stuff all of the gaps in the box – with Styrofoam or even newspapers.

If you have to ship big elements of glassware (like mirrors or glass shelves) you need to not only secure it from shattering, but also from scratching. You should wrap the glass in substantial layer of bubble wrap, fasten it with adhesive tape and place it in a container. Remember to mention on top of the cardboard box that the package should be handled with care. You may also use pre-made stamps for fragile loads.

Small glassware (like glasses or bottles} may be secured by outdated magazines, paper or even towels. Next phase is to store them in a container so that they won't knock against each other during transport. The same way you should secure porcelain and crystals. When dealing with big glass elements (like chandeliers) it is best to use an extra layer of soft materials, for example sponge or towels.

Price of glass transport varies depending on weight and dimensions of the load, route lenght and delivery dates. Another price-defining factor is whether or not you require using professional packing materials and aid securing the load.
