Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorcycles and mopeds are not only valuable, but also not easy to secure while being shipped. However, it turns out that most of it depends on how we do it and how much prior experience with transport we gained. It is possible to transport a motorcycle or a moped without difficulties, no doubts about that. The way you will secure it depends on the type of shipment. Owing to some helpful tips you could prevent any damages, and dents that often happen when a scooter or motorbike is not properly cared for.

When you are moving the motorbike on a trailer you will need 4 strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer specially created for motorbikes or scooters, it already has been equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorbike. In this case you will need only two belts. It is important to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed one should not open up accidentaly during the transport.

It is also worth looking at the sharp angles or objects that may possibly tear up the belts and make the safe transport impossible. It's also possible to transport a motorcycle inside a van. The protection and equipment needed to keep the motorbike installed safely in one place will not differ too much from other methods mentioned before. One thing to be considered is installing the side pads to prevent any damage to the insides of the van and other objects that will accompany the motorbike.

There are also platforms that hooked to a car or another vehicle, can help you transport your motorbike without occupying the entire space in the truck.

Remember to check with the transport company if the equipment they provide will be sufficient to ship your motorbike. For instance, using a wooden platform for lifting your motorbike and loading it in a van could be dangerous to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause substantial damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When listing your motorcycle on Clicktrans you can receive  a lot of great offers from shipping providers who have their account on Clicktrans.

Many of these providers can organise the transport, so that they can utilise the full capacity of their cars. Thanks to that, the service gets cheaper and more eco-friendly with less and less „empty runs”.
