Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorcycles and mopeds are not only expensive, but also difficult to secure when transported. Though, it turns out that the majority depends on the way we do it and how much previous experience with shipping we had gathered. It is doable to transport a motorbike or a scooter without troubles, no doubts about that. The way it will be secured depends on the mean of shipment. Owing to some valuable tips you will prevent any scratches, and dents that may happen if a moped or motorbike is not properly secured.

When you are transporting your motorbike using a trailer you will need four strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer which is dedicated for motorbikes or scooters, it already has been equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorbike. In this situation you will need only 2 belts. It's crucial to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed hook should not open up by accident during the shipment.

It is also worth looking at the sharp angles or objects that may possibly tear up the belts and hinder your efforts. It's also possible to transport a motorcycle inside a truck. The protection and equipment required to keep the motorcycle standing safely in one place will not differ too much from other ways mentioned before. One thing that should be taken under consideration will be installing the side pads to protect the insides of the car and other objects that might be transported next to the motorcycle.

There are also platforms that attached to a car or van, can let you ship your motorbike not occupying the whole space in the van.

Do not forget to check with the shipping company if the equipment they provide will be sufficient to transport your motorbike. For instance, using a wooden platform for lifting your scooter and loading it in a truck could be dangerous to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause serious damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When listing your motorcycle on Clicktrans you will get  plenty of great quotes from transport providers registered on Clicktrans.

Many of these providers can organise the transport, so that they can use the full capacity of their cars. Thanks to that, shipment gets cheaper and more eco-friendly with less and less „empty runs”.
