Kart transportation

Seemingly shipping a kart seems pretty easy and uncomplicated. In reality though it needs a bit of preparing and professional accessories to be done efficiently. There are a few main ways of transporting a go-kart: you can use a dedicated trailer, a delivery truck or a regular car (if it’s big enough to fit a kart). When shipping a go-kart it is crucial to secure it safely to make sure it won’t damage in transportation and also so that it will not become a danger to others on the road. A kart is lighter than for example a quad and a motorcycle, but it still weights over 100 kg and if it happens to fall from the trailer while on the move, it can cause a serious accident to other vehicles.

To safely transport a go-kart on a trailer, you should have some good quality tie down belts to attach your vehicle to the floor of the transporting vehicle. The kart shouldn’t move while on the road. Remember to take some additional straps with you in case one of the straps tears during shipment and you have to use a new one. If you are shipping a kart on a trailer, it is smart to cover the kart with some tarpaulin or even a blanket to shield it against the weather because long contact with rain or dust can seriously damage your kart, in some cases permanently. When you are transporting your go-kart by a delivery van, it is smart to use some bumpers to cushion any shocks during transportation.

Remember you should always pump out all the liquids from the go-kart before it gets on the road – that goes for fuel and also water and so on. This way you’ll effortlessly avoid any leaking if your go-kart falls over during sudden turn.

If you do not own a car that will be able to safely transport a go-kart or for some reason you don’t want to ship it by yourself, it’s a smart move to hire a hauler. Every hauler will easily find room for a go-kart in their delivery vans. You’ll also get a chance to gain some expert know-how, for example on how to secure a kart properly, which you can then use in the future.
