Kart transportation

At first glance transporting a kart seems pretty easy and straightforward. In reality though it requires some preparing and professional accessories to be done efficiently. There is more than one way of transporting a go-kart: you may use a special trailer, a semi-trailer or a regular car (if it’s big enough to fit a go-kart). When shipping a go-kart it’s important to secure it safely to make sure it won’t damage during shipment and also to be certain it won’t pose a threat to other people on the road. A kart is smaller than a quad and a motorbike, but it’s still over 220 lbs and if it falls from the moving trailer, it can pose a real threat on the road.

To safely transport a kart using a trailer, you should have some good quality tie down belts so that you can fasten your kart to the shipping vehicle. It must not move during transportation. Remember to take some extra belts with you in case one of the belts tears on the road and you have no choice but to change it. If you are transporting a go-kart on a dedicated trailer, it is smart to cover the kart with some material or even a blanket to protect it against atmospheric conditions as prolonged exposure to rain or dust can really damage your go-kart, sometimes for good. If you ship your go-kart in a delivery van, it is smart to obtain some bumpers to cushion possible shocks on the road.

Don’t forget to always pump out all the liquids from the go-kart before shipment – that goes for gasoline but also water ect.. This will help you to ensure you’ll effortlessly avert any leakage in case your go-kart tips over during sudden turn.

When you don’t have access to a car that will be able to safely transport a go-kart or you can’t ship it on your own, it’s a smart move to hire a transport provider. Most of them will easily find room for a kart in their transporting vehicles. As a bonus you’ll get access to some expert know-how, for example on what is the best way to secure a go-kart safely, which you can then use next time you need transportation.
