Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorcycles and mopeds are not only valuable, but also hard to protect when transported. Though, it turns out that most of it depends on the way we do it and how much prior experience with transport we had gathered. It is feasible to transport a motorcycle or a scooter without obstacles, no doubts about that. The way it will be secured depends on the type of shipment. Thanks to some helpful advice you will avoid any scratches, and dents that often happen if a moped or motorbike is not properly cared for.

When you are shipping the motorcycle using a trailer you will need four strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer that is dedicated for motorbikes or scooters, it already has been equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorbike. In this case you will need only 2 belts. It's crucial to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed hook will not open up accidentaly during the shipment.

It is also worth checking the sharp angles or objects that may possibly rip the belts and hinder your efforts. It's also reasonable to transport a motorbike in a truck. The protection and equipment required to keep the motorbike standing safely in one place will not differ too much from other methods mentioned above. One thing worth considering is installing the side pads to secure the insides of the truck and other objects that may be transported with the motorbike.

There are also platforms that hooked to a car or another vehicle, can help you transport your motorbike without occupying the whole space in the car.

Do not forget to check with the shipping company if the equipment they provide will be enough to ship your motorbike. For instance, using a wooden platform for lifting your scooter and loading it in a truck could pose danger to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause serious damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

Many of these companies can adjust the transport, so that they can use the full capacity of their vans. Thanks to that, transport gets cheaper and more environmentally friendly with decreasing number of ”empty running”.
