Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorbikes and mopeds are not only valuable, but also not easy to secure when transported. However, it turns out that everything depends on the way we do it and how much prior experience with transport we got. It is possible to transport a motorbike or a moped without problems, no doubts about that. The way you will secure it depends on the mean of shipment. Thanks to some helpful tricks you can avoid any damages, and dents that often happen when a scooter or motorcycle is not properly secured.

When you are shipping the motorbike using a trailer you will need four belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer which is designed for motorcycles or scooters, it already is equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorcycle. In this situation you will need only two belts. It is crucial to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed one should not open up accidentaly during the shipment.

It is also worth looking at the sharp edges or objects that may possibly rip the belts and make the safe transport impossible. It's also reasonable to transport a motorcycle inside a van. The protection and equipment necessary to keep the motorbike standing safely in one place will not vary too much from other methods mentioned above. One thing to be considered is installing the side pads to protect the insides of the truck and other objects that might be transported just next to the motorbike.

There are also platforms that attached to a car or another vehicle, can let you transport your motorbike not occupying the entire space in the car.

Remember to check with the shipping company if the equipment they provide will suffice to ship your motorcycle. For instance, using a wooden platform for lifting your motorbike and loading it in a van could be dangerous to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause serious damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

Many of these companies can adjust the transport, so that they can utilise the full capacity of their cars. Thanks to that, transport gets cheaper and more environmentally friendly with less and less „empty runs”.
