Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) poses a practical form of transport of a relatively small consignment which does not demand a lot of space and may be usually transported on pallets. It utilizes free surface in the truck by a consolidation of more than one different freightages. LTL is cheaper since people are able to split the transportation costs with the others that also want to take some part of the surface available in the truck. LTL shipments normally have a weight of between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Vehicles which are used in the LTL have a weight of over 3.5 tons and must be compatible with the requirements being in force in a given region. There are plentiful of categories of cars which are appropriate to be used in the LTL shipping, but they should be always properly adjusted to the dimension of the cargos that are going to be shipped.

The charge for the shipping is dependent on a few aspects. First of all, magnitude and weight of the cargo. The person who order a shipment should also give a carrier an information about the way the product is packed. You should also mention what you hope to be included in the service – is it no more than the transport or does it also consist of loading and unloading.

Assuming that you realise that volume available via the less than truckload does not suffice to transport your product, you can use another option – full truck load (FTL).
