Glassware

When moving glass, one of the most important things to think about is packing the cargo beforehand. In this case simple package will not ensure safe transport. You must fill the gaps between your load and walls of the package with substances that will stop movement of the glassware during shipment. One of the ways to do that is to use Styrofoam or soft materials that will block possible jolting and protect your glassware from fracturing. Additionally you need to wrap your cargo in bubble foil, especially all the parts that are fine and extra fragile. Secure the bubble wrap with adhesive tape just to be certain the bubble wrap won’t unfold during shipment. When you are done covering, you should pack all of the gaps in the box – with Styrofoam or even newspapers.

If you have to transport large items of glassware (like mirrors or glass shelves) you ought to not only secure it from shattering, but also from scratching. You must wrap the glass in substantial layer of bubble foil, tie it with Scotch tape and put it in a cardboard box. Make sure to mention on top of the box that the box is fragile. You could also use pre-made stickers for fragile loads.

Small glassware (like goblets or bottles} can be secured by old newspapers, paper or even clothes. Next step is to put them in a cardboard box so that they will not touch during transport. The same way you should transport porcelain and crystals. When transporting large glassware items (like chandeliers) it is best to add an extra layer of soft materials, like sponge or clothes.

Price of glass shipment is determined by weight and dimensions of the cargo, distance and delivery dates. Additional price-defining factor is whether or not you require using professional packing materials and assistance securing the cargo.
