Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorbikes and scooters are not only expensive, but also difficult to secure when transported. However, it turns out that everything depends on how we do it and how much previous experience with transport we gained. It is feasible to ship a motorcycle or a scooter without troubles, undoubtedly. The way it will be secured depends on the mean of transportation. Owing to some valuable advice you could prevent any scratches, and dents that could happen when a moped or motorbike is not properly cared for.

When you are moving the motorbike on a trailer you will need four strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer which is dedicated for motorcycles or scooters, it already is equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorcycle. In this case you will need only two strapping belts. It is neccessary to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed one should not open up by accident during the transport.

It is also worth checking the sharp angles or parts that may possibly cut the belts and make the safe transport impossible. It's also reasonable to transport a motorcycle inside a van. The protection and equipment required to keep the motorbike standing safely in one place will not differ too much from other methods mentioned before. One thing to be considered will be the installation of the side pads to protect the insides of the van and other objects that may be transported with the motorcycle.

There are also platforms that attached to a truck or another vehicle, can let you ship your motorbike not occupying the whole space in the van.

Do not forget to check with the transport company if the equipment they provide will be sufficient to carry your motorbike. For example, using a wooden stand for lifting your motorcycle and loading it in a truck could pose danger to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause severe damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When listing your motorcycle on Clicktrans you will receive  lots of great quotes from shipping companies registered on Clicktrans.

Many of these companies can organise the transport, so that they can use the full capacity of their trucks. Thanks to that, shipment gets cheaper and more eco-friendly with decreasing number of „empty runs”.
