Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorcycles and mopeds are not only worth a lot, but also hard to protect while being transported. Though, it turns out that the majority depends on how we do it and how much prior experience with transport we got. It is doable to ship a motorbike or a moped without difficulties, undoubtedly. The way you will secure it depends on the mean of shipment. Owing to some useful tips you can prevent any damages, and dents that are likely to happen when a moped or motorbike is not properly cared for.

When you are shipping your motorbike on a trailer you will need four strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer specially dedicated for motorcycles or scooters, it already has been equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorbike. In this case you will need only 2 strapping belts. It's important to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed one will not open up accidentaly during the shipment.

It is also worth looking at the sharp edges or parts that may possibly cut the belts and make it impossible to safely transport your motorcycle. It's also feasible to transport a motorcycle inside a van. The protection and equipment required to keep the motorcycle installed safely in one place will not differ too much from other ways mentioned before. One thing worth considering will be the installation of the side pads to protect the insides of the truck and other objects that might accompany the motorcycle.

There are also platforms that attached to a car or another vehicle, can let you ship your motorbike not occupying the entire space in the truck.

It is important to check with the shipping company if the equipment they provide will suffice to ship your motorbike. For example, using a wooden platform for lifting your scooter and loading it in a van could be dangerous to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause substantial damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When posting your request on Clicktrans you can receive  plenty of great quotes from transport companies who have their account on Clicktrans.

Many of these providers can organise the transport, so that they can utilise the full capacity of their vans. Thanks to that, transport gets cheaper and more eco-friendly with less and less ”empty running”.
