Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) is a practical mode of shipment of a small cargo that does not take a big area and is very often placed on pallets. This method makes use of free surface in the car by combining a few different cargos. This kind of shipment is affordable as companies have an opportunity to split the shipment cost with other people that also are willing to take a fraction of the cargo space available in the car. LTL shipments naturally weigh between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Vehicles that are used in the LTL weigh over 3.5 tons and should be congruous with the specifications being in force in a given region. There are different categories of cars which are appropriate to be used in the LTL, but they should be always appropriately suited to the kind of the products that will be transported.

The charge for the transporting is a result of a few aspects. Primarly, content and mass of the freightage. The person ordering need to also give a transporter data about the way the product is packed. It is also worth mentioning what you expect to be incorporated in the service – is it simply the shipment or does it also include loading and unloading.

When it turns out that volume available via the less than truckload does not meet your requirements to ship your cargo, you should make use of its alternative – full truck load (FTL).
