Transporting a caravan

Shipping a caravan is usually correlated with a lot of problems, but in fact it is much less complex than we realize. If you want to ship a caravan on your own, remember to make sure that your driving license enables you to do it.

Types of caravans

A Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most usual kind of caravan. It has 4 sturdy walls and a full height rood. It can vary in length as well as in the amount of rooms, still generally it provides quite convenient travelling conditions. Conventional caravans come in 1 or 2 axles.

B Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a good alternative in case you need to lower the costs. Tent trailer can be towed by most of the cars , moreover it often includes most of the elementary equipment, such as shower or a fridge. It provide you considerable living space however offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

C Pop-top caravans -  this kind is very much alike conventional caravans with the addition of a expendable roof, which helps to increase the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer does not offer much wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan is equipped with all the advantages of a pop-top caravan as well as additional expandable area on the foot and the head of the vehicle, which creates a perfect spot to fit additional beds, in case you need them. Pop-out caravans are the most popular among large families.

5) Camper trailers – this type of caravan offers not as much living space as the types mentioned above, but because they provide with the most needed elementary equipment (shower, hot water and so on) camper trailers are considered to be a convenient as well as affordable way of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest kind of caravan. It provides with considerable amount of living space, so that whole families can travel comfortably. Because of its large size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (e. g. a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to ship a caravan by yourself – it hinges on whether you have right amount of time to travel needed distance and whether the caravan itself is functional.

If you decide to find a shipping provider to ship your caravan, confirm you know the precise dimensions of the caravan. Also make sure that its insurance is up-to-date. In addition, inform the transport provider about condition of the caravan – like whether brakes work properly.

When hiring a transport provider to move your caravan you do not need to think about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the regulations apply to the transport provider. Moreover, transport providers often invest in product liability insurance, which ensures you a compensation, if anything happens with the caravan during transportation.

Cost of transporting a caravan

Price of moving a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (similar to almost every type of loads}. Additionally, the price is also defined by the condition of the caravan – if it is fully functional, you are likely to get cheaper price.
