Transporting a caravan

Moving a caravan is often correlated with great deal of problems, but in fact it is much less difficult than we realize. If you want to ship a caravan on your own, remember to make sure that your driving license allows you to do that.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most common kind of caravan. It has four strong walls and a full height rood. Mentioned type can vary in dimensions as well as in the amount of rooms, yet in most cases it provides quite satisfying travelling environment. Conventional caravans come in 1 or two axles.

2) Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a good choice in case you might want to decrease the costs. Tent trailer can be towed by most of the cars , moreover it usually contains the most basic equipment, such as hot water or a fridge. Tent trailer gives you large living space but offers very little wind resistance.

3) Pop-top caravans -  this kind is very much alike conventional caravans with the addition of a lifting roof, which helps expanding the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer does not provide much wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan has all the features of a pop-top caravan as well as added pop-out area on the ends of the vehicle, which creates a perfect spot to place additional beds, should you need them. Pop-out caravans are the most favored by big families.

E Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as most of the types mentioned above, but thanks to having the most needed basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a comfortable as well as economical way of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest kind of caravan. It offers very big amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel comfortably. Because of its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (e. g. a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan on your own – such decision hinges on whether you have enough time to travel necessary route and whether the caravan itself is capable of travelling such distance.

In case you choose to hire a transport provider to move your caravan, check if you know the precise dimensions of the caravan. Additionally make sure that its insurance is up-to-date. In addition, instruct the transport provider about condition of the caravan – like whether lights are fully functional.

When relying on a transport provider to ship your caravan you don’t need to think about your driving license or speed limits  - all the requirements concern the transport provider. Moreover, transport providers often have product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, should any damage is done to the caravan during shipment.

Price of moving a caravan

Cost of transporting a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (similar to almost every type of cargo}. Additionally, the price is also defined by the state of the caravan – if it is undamaged, you will likely pay less.
