Transporting a caravan

Shipping a caravan is frequently correlated with great deal of problems, but in fact it is much easier than it seems. If you plan on transporting a caravan by yourself, do not forget to make sure that your driving license allows you to do that.

Types of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most popular kind of caravan. It has four strong walls as well as a full height rood. Mentioned type can range in length as well as in the number of rooms, yet in most cases it ensures pretty convenient travelling conditions. Conventional caravans may have 1 or 2 axles.

2) Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a great alternative in case you want to decrease the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by most of the cars , moreover it usually includes most of the elementary equipment, such as shower or a fridge. It gives you large amount of living space however offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

C Pop-top caravans -  they are very much alike conventional caravans with the addition of a lifting roof, which helps expanding the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer does not offer much wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan is equipped with all the features of a pop-top caravan and extra pop-out section on the ends of the van, which creates a convienient spot to fit extra beds, in case you are in need of them. Pop-out caravans are the most favored by big families.

5) Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as the types described before, but because they provide with the most needed elementary equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a comfortable as well as economical way of travelling.

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest kind of caravan. It provides with very big amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel pleasantly. Due to its large size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (such as a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to ship a caravan on your own – it hinges on whether you have right amount of time to travel required route and whether the caravan itself is functional.

If you choose to hire a shipping provider to transport your caravan, verify if you know the precise measurements of the caravan. Moreover make sure that its insurance is up-to-date. In addition, warn the hauler about state of the caravan – e.g. whether lights are fully functional.

When hiring a transport provider to move your caravan you don’t need to think about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the procedures apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, transport providers often have product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, if anything happens with the caravan during shipment.

Price of moving a caravan

Cost of moving a caravan hinges on its dimensions and weight (as it is withmost types of loads}. Additionally, the cost is also defined by the condition of the vehicle – if it is able to drive on its own, you are likely to get cheaper price.
