Types of caravans

A Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most common kind of caravan. It has four sturdy walls and a full height rood. A conventional caravan can differ in length as well as in the amount of rooms, still generally it guarantees pretty satisfying travelling conditions. Conventional caravans come in one or 2 axles.

B Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a great alternative in case you want to decrease the costs. It can be towed by nearly every car , moreover it often includes the most basic equipment, such as shower or a fridge. Tent trailer provide you considerable living space however offers very little wind resistance.

3) Pop-top caravans -  they are very much alike conventional caravans with the exception of a lifting roof, which helps expanding the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer provides very little wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this type of caravan is equipped with all the features of a pop-top caravan and extra pop-out section on the ends of the vehicle, which creates a convienient spot to place extra beds, in case you are in need of them. Pop-out caravans are especially popular among large families.

E Camper trailers – this type of caravan offers less living space than the types mentioned above, but because they provide with the most needed basic equipment (shower, fridge and so on) camper trailers are considered to be a comfortable and economical manner of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest type of caravan. It offers considerable amount of living space, so that whole families can travel in comfort. Due to its large size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (like a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan on your own – it hinges on whether you have enough time to cover required route and whether the caravan itself is capable of travelling such distance.

In case you choose to hire a transport company to ship your caravan, double-check if you have the exact measurements of the caravan. Additionally make sure that its insurance is up-to-date. Moreover, inform the transport provider about condition of the caravan – for example whether brakes are fully functional.

When relying on a transport provider to move your caravan you don’t have to worry about your driving license or speed limits  - all the rules concern the transport provider. Furthermore, transport companies often invest in product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, should anything happens with the caravan on the road.
