Transporting a caravan

Moving a caravan is frequently associated with a lot of problems, but actually it is much easier than we realize. If you want to ship a caravan by yourself, don’t forget to make sure that your driving license enables you to do that.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as can be deduced from the name, this is the most popular type of caravan. This type has four sturdy walls as well as a full height rood. Mentioned type might differ in dimensions and in the amount of rooms, but in most cases it ensures pretty convenient travelling environment. Conventional caravans come in one or 2 axles.

2) Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a good alternative in case you need to decrease the costs. Tent trailer gives you large living space however offers very little wind resistance.

3) Pop-top caravans -  this type is very much alike conventional caravans with the addition of a lifting roof, that can increase the living space. Pop-top caravans, much like a tent trailer provides very little wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan is equipped with all the features of a pop-top caravan and extra pop-out area on the foot and the head of the van, which is a convienient spot to place extra beds, should you need them. Pop-out caravans are the most favored by big families.

E Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as most of the types mentioned before, but thanks to having all the basic equipment (shower, fridge and so on) camper trailers are considered to be a comfortable and economical way of travelling. 

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest type of caravan. It offers very big amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel in comfort. Because of its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (such as a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to ship a caravan by yourself – it depends on whether you have right amount of time to travel needed route and whether the caravan itself is functional.

If you want to hire a shipping provider to ship your caravan, confirm you have the specific dimensions of the caravan. Also make sure that its insurance hasn’t expired. Futhermore, instruct the hauler about condition of the caravan – for example whether lights are fully functional.

Cost of moving a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (as it is withmost types of loads}. Other than that , the price is also affected by the state of the caravan – if it is fully functional, you will likely get cheaper price.
