Transporting a caravan

Moving a caravan is usually correlated with great deal of problems, but actually it is much less difficult than we realize. If you want to transport a caravan on your own, don’t forget to make sure that your driving license enables you to do it.

Types of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most usual kind of caravan. It has 4 strong walls and a full height rood. Mentioned type might range in length and in the number of rooms, yet generally it provides pretty pleasant travelling conditions. Conventional caravans come in one or two axles.

B Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a good choice in case you might want to decrease the costs. It can be towed by almost any car , moreover it often contains most of the elementary equipment, like hot water or a fridge. Tent trailer provide you considerable amount of living space but offers very little wind resistance.

C Pop-top caravans -  this kind is very much alike conventional caravans with the addition of a lifting roof, that can increase the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer does not provide much wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan has all the features of a pop-top caravan and extra pop-out area on the ends of the van, which creates a perfect spot to fit extra beds, should you need them. Pop-out caravans are especially popular among big families.

5) Camper trailers – this type of caravan offers less living space than the types described before, but because of the most needed basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) camper trailers are considered to be a convenient as well as economical way of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest type of caravan. It offers very big amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel pleasantly. Because of its large size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (e. g. a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan on your own – such decision depends on whether you have enough time to drive required route and whether the caravan itself is functional.

If you choose to find a transport provider to move your caravan, verify if you give them the exact dimensions of the caravan. Moreover make sure that its insurance hasn’t expired. Moreover, warn the hauler about state of the caravan – like whether lights work properly.

When hiring a transport provider to ship your caravan you do not need to think about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the procedures apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, transport companies frequently have product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, should anything happens with the caravan on the road.

Price of shipping a caravan

Price of shipping a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (as it is with almost every type of cargo}. Additionally, the price is also affected by the condition of the vehicle – if it is able to drive on its own, you are likely to pay less.
