Transporting a caravan

Shipping a caravan is frequently associated with great deal of problems, but actually it is much easier than we realize. If you want to ship a caravan on your own, do not forget to make sure that your driving license enables you to do it.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most usual kind of caravan. This type has 4 solid walls as well as a full height rood. A conventional caravan can vary in dimensions as well as in the amount of rooms, however in general it guarantees pretty satisfying travelling conditions. Conventional caravans may have one or two axles.

B Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a fine alternative if you want to lower the costs. Tent trailer can be towed by nearly every car and usually contains the most basic equipment, such as hot water or a fridge. Tent trailer gives you considerable amount of living space however offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

3) Pop-top caravans -  they are very much alike conventional caravans with the addition of a lifting roof, which helps expanding the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer provides very little wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this type of caravan is equipped with all the advantages of a pop-top caravan as well as extra expandable area on the foot and the head of the van, which creates a perfect area to place additional beds, should you are in need of them. Pop-out caravans are the most popular among big families.

E Camper trailers – this type of caravan offers not as much living space as the types mentioned before, but thanks to having all the elementary equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a comfortable and economical way of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest type of caravan. It provides with very big amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel comfortably. Because of its large size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (e. g. a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan on your own – it hinges on whether you have right amount of time to travel necessary route and whether the caravan itself is working.

If you want to find a shipping provider to transport your caravan, verify if you have the specific measurements of the caravan. Also make sure that its insurance is up-to-date. Moreover, inform the transport provider about state of the caravan – for example whether brakes are fully functional.

When relying on a transport provider to ship your caravan you don’t need to think about your driving license or speed limits  - all the requirements apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, transport providers frequently have product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, should anything happens with the caravan during transportation.

Cost of transporting a caravan

Cost of transporting a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (as it is with almost every type of loads}. Additionally, the cost is also affected by the state of the caravan – if it is undamaged, you are likely to get cheaper price.
