Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is usually associated with a lot of problems, but in fact it is much less complex than it seems. If you want to transport a caravan by yourself, don’t forget to make sure that your driving license enables you to do that.

Kinds of caravans

A Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most popular kind of caravan. This type has four strong walls and a full height rood. Mentioned type can range in length and in the number of rooms, still generally it guarantees pretty comfortable travelling conditions. Conventional caravans may have one or two axles.

2) Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a good choice in case you need to lower the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by most of the cars , moreover it often includes the most basic equipment, such as shower or a fridge. Tent trailer provide you considerable living space but offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

C Pop-top caravans -  this type is very much alike conventional caravans with the exception of a expendable roof, that can expand the living space. Pop-top caravans, much like a tent trailer does not provide much wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan has all the advantages of a pop-top caravan and added pop-out area on the ends of the vehicle, which is a perfect spot to fit extra beds, in case you need them. Pop-out caravans are the most popular among big families.

5) Camper trailers – this type of caravan offers less living space than the types mentioned above, but thanks to having all the basic equipment (shower, fridge and so on) it is a comfortable and affordable manner of travelling.

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest type of caravan. It provides with considerable amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel comfortably. Due to its large size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (such as a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to transport a caravan by yourself – such decision hinges on whether you have enough time to drive needed distance and whether the caravan itself is working.

In case you decide to find a transport provider to move your caravan, verify if you have the precise measurements of the caravan. Moreover check if its insurance hasn’t expired. In addition, instruct the transport provider about condition of the caravan – like whether lights work properly.

When relying on a transport provider to transport your caravan you don’t have to worry about your driving license or speed limits  - all the regulations apply to the transport provider. Moreover, shipping providers frequently have product liability insurance, which ensures you a compensation, should any damage is done to the caravan during transportation.

Price of transporting a caravan

Cost of moving a caravan hinges on its dimensions and weight (similar tomost types of cargo}. Other than that , the price is also affected by the state of the vehicle – if it is able to drive on its own, you will likely get cheaper price.
