Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorbikes and mopeds are not only worth a lot, but also hard to protect when shipped. Although, it turns out that most of it depends on how we do it and how much prior experience with shipping we had gathered. It is possible to transport a motorcycle or a moped without difficulties, no doubts about that. The way you will secure it depends on the type of shipment. Thanks to some useful tips you could prevent any damages, and dents that often happen if a moped or motorbike is not properly cared for.

When you are transporting your motorcycle on a trailer you will need four belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer that is dedicated for motorbikes or scooters, it already is equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorbike. In this case you will need only 2 belts. It's crucial to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed one should not open up by accident during the shipment.

It is also worth checking the sharp edges or elements that may possibly rip the belts and make it impossible to safely transport your motorcycle. It's also possible to transport a motorcycle in a van. The protection and equipment obligatory to keep the motorbike resting safely in one place will not vary too much from other ways mentioned before. One thing to be considered is installing the side pads to prevent any damage to the insides of the van and other objects that might be transported next to the motorcycle.

There are also platforms that hooked to a truck or van, can let you ship your motorcycle without occupying the entire space in the van.

Check with the shipping company if the equipment they provide will be enough to carry your motorcycle. For example, using a wooden stand for lifting your motorbike and loading it in a truck could pose danger to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause severe damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When listing your motorcycle on Clicktrans you can receive  lots of great quotes from transport providers registered on Clicktrans.

Many of these companies can adjust the transport, so that they can utilise the full capacity of their vans. Thanks to that, shipment gets cheaper and more environmentally friendly with decreasing number of ”empty running”.
