Transporting a caravan

Moving a caravan is often correlated with a lot of problems, but in fact it is much easier than we realize. If you plan on transporting a caravan on your own, don’t forget to make sure that your driving license allows you to do it.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as can be deduced from the name, this is the most usual kind of caravan. This type has four solid walls and a full height rood. A conventional caravan might range in length and in the amount of rooms, but in general it guarantees quite satisfying travelling environment. Conventional caravans may have one or two axles.

B Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a great choice in case you want to lower the costs. It can be towed by nearly every car , moreover it usually includes most of the elementary equipment, like shower and a fridge. Tent trailer provide you considerable amount of living space but offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

C Pop-top caravans -  this kind is similar to conventional caravans with the exception of a expendable roof, that can increase the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer provides very little wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this type of caravan has all the features of a pop-top caravan and added expandable area on the ends of the vehicle, which is a convienient area to place additional beds, in case you are in need of them. Pop-out caravans are especially favored by large families.

5) Camper trailers – they offer less living space than most of the types described above, but because they provide with the most needed basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a comfortable as well as budget manner of travelling.

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest kind of caravan. It offers very big amount of living space, so that whole families can travel in comfort. Because of its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (e. g. a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to transport a caravan on your own – such decision depends on whether you have right amount of time to travel needed distance and whether the caravan itself is capable of travelling such distance.

In case you want to find a transport provider to transport your caravan, make sure you know the precise measurements of the caravan. Moreover make sure that its insurance hasn’t expired. Futhermore, instruct the hauler about state of the caravan – e.g. whether brakes work properly.

When relying on a transport provider to move your caravan you do not have to think about your driving license or speed limits  - all the regulations concern the transport provider. Moreover, shipping companies often have product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, should anything happens with the caravan during transportation.

Price of transporting a caravan

Price of moving a caravan hinges on its dimensions and weight (similar tomost types of cargo}. Additionally, the cost is also affected by the condition of the vehicle – if it is undamaged, you will likely pay less.
