Glassware

When it comes to shipping glass, one of the crucial things to think about is packing the cargo for the transport. In this case simple package will not do. You have to pack the space between your load and walls of the container with substances that can help to avoid any jolting of the glass during transport. The best way to ensure that is to fill the box with Styrofoam or soft materials that will stop possible jolting and save your glass from cracking. Additionally you need to wrap your load in bubble wrap, especially all the elements that are thin and prone to damage. Tie the bubble foil with Scotch tape just to be certain the bubble wrap won’t unfold during shipment. When you are done covering, you need to pack all of the gaps in the container – with some spongy material or even pieces of cardboard.

If you need to move big pieces of glassware (like mirrors or glass shelves) you should not only shield it from breaking, but also from scratching. You could surround the glassware with thick layer of bubble foil, tie it with Scotch tape and place it in a cardboard box. Make sure to mention on top of the package that the container contains glassware. You can also use pre-made stickers for delicate packages.

Smaller glassware (like goblets or bottles} may be secured by outdated magazines, paper or even clothes. Next phase is to put them in a container so that they won't knock against each other while shipped. In similar manner you may secure porcelain and crystals. When dealing with big glassware elements (like chandeliers) it is best to use an extra layer of soft materials, like sponge or towels.

Price of glass shipment varies depending on weight and dimensions of the load, route lenght as well as delivery dates. Another price-defining aspect is whether or not you want to use professional packing materials as well as guidance securing the load.
