Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) constitutes an effective method of transport of a small cargo that does not necessitate a lot of space and may be very often stored on pallets. LTL takes advantage of available area in the car by combining a few autonomous cargos. Less than Truckload is cost-effective as companies may share the shipment cost with the others who also want to take a share of the cargo space available in the truck. LTL cargos normally weigh between 151 and 20,000 pounds.

Vehicles that are used in the LTL have a weight of more than 3.5 tons and have to be in accordance with the requirements set in one region. There are numerous categories of cars which are appropriate to serve in the LTL shipping, but they must be always properly adjusted to the dimension of the products which will be moved.

The cost of the transportation is based on several features. Firstly, magnitude and mass of the object. The principal should also provide a transporter an information about the packaging. You should also mention what you hope to be covered by the service – is it nothing but the transport or does it also consist of loading and unloading.

If you realise that volume available via the less than truckload is not enough to dispatch your object, you should use its alternative – full truck load (FTL).
