Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) represents a practical mode of delivery of a relatively small cargo that is not in need of a spacious place and is very often placed on pallets. It takes advantage of unused area in the car by a consolidation of more than one distinct cargos. LTL is cheaper since businesses can split the shipment cost with the others that also need to take a share of the cargo space available in the truck. LTL cargos commonly have a weight of between 151 and 20,000 pounds.

Trucks that are used in the LTL weigh over 3.5 tons and must be accordant with the rules that are in force in one country. There are plentiful of kinds of vehicles that are fit to serve in the LTL, but they have to be always correctly adjusted to the size of the commodity which will be shipped.

The charge for the transporting is dependent on several features. First of all, size and mass of the object. The person who order a shipment need to also present a transporter data about the way the product is packed. It is also worth mentioning what you expect to be covered by the service – is it simply the shipment or does it also encompass loading and unloading.

If you realise that volume available via the less than truckload does not meet your requirements to transport your product, you may want to decide to use its alternative – full truck load (FTL).
