Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) poses a practical way of delivery of a not big commodity which does not require a big area and is usually placed on pallets. LTL takes advantage of free surface in the car by a consolidation of several distinct freightages. Less than Truckload is economical as businesses may distribute the transportation costs with the others who also have to take a fraction of the surface available in the car. LTL freightages ordinarily weigh between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Cars which are used in the LTL have a weight of over 3.5 t and should be in accordance with the arrangements established in a given country. There are numerous categories of trucks that are suitable to serve in the LTL shipping, but they have to be always appropriately adjusted to the dimension of the cargos which will be delivered.

The price of the transportation is subject to a few aspects. First of all, content and weight of the product. The person who order a shipment should also give a transporter data about the way the product is packed. Don’t forget to mention what you expect to be included in the service – is it only the shipment or does it also cover loading and unloading.

When you realise that volume available via the less than truckload does not meet your requirements to transport your cargo, you could make use of its alternative – full truck load (FTL).
