Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) poses a useful method of transport of a smaller cargo that does not need a lot of space and is very often kept on pallets. It utilizes available surface in the car by combining a few independent freightages. Less than Truckload is affordable as businesses have an opportunity to distribute the shipment cost with other people who also are willing to use a share of the area available in the truck. LTL cargos frequently have a weight of between 151 and 20,000 pounds.

Trucks which are used in the LTL have a weight of more than 3.5 tons and should be compatible with the specifications set in one region. There are different categories of trucks which are suitable to serve in the LTL shipping, but they have to be always properly suited to the kind of the cargos which will be moved.

The cost of the shipping is a result of several features. Firstly, size and weight of the freightage. The person who order a shipment should also give a transporter an information about the packaging. You should also mention what you expect to be covered by the service – is it no more than the transport or does it also cover loading and unloading.

Whenever you realise that the cargo space available via the LTL does not meet your requirements to dispatch your object, you should decide to use another option – full truck load (FTL).
