Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) is an effective form of shipment of a relatively small commodity that does not demand a big surface and can be usually placed on pallets. LTL makes use of available surface in the car by a consolidation of a few distinct cargos. This kind of shipment is economical as companies can share the shipment cost with the others that also need to take a fraction of the area available in the car. LTL shipments commonly weigh between 151 and 20,000 pounds.

Vehicles specialised in the LTL have a weight of over 3.5 t and should be accordant with the rules established in one location. There are different versions of vehicles which are fit to be used in the LTL, but they should be always properly suited to the size of the commodity that are going to be delivered.

The financial aspect of the transportation is subject to several aspects. Primarly, magnitude and mass of the product. The person who order a shipment need to also present a carrier an information about the way the product is packed. It is also worth mentioning what you wish to be included in the service – is it no more than the transport or does it also cover loading and unloading.

Whenever you realise that space available via the LTL does not meet your requirements to ship your product, you could decide to use another option – full truck load (FTL).
