Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) represents a useful mode of shipment of a smaller product that does not need a big surface and is often stored on pallets. This method makes use of extra area in the truck by merging several different freightages. This method is economical because principals have an opportunity to distribute the shipment cost with other people that also are planning to take some part of the surface available in the car. LTL cargos commonly weigh between 151 and 20,000 pounds.

Trucks which are used in the LTL have a weight of over 3.5 tons and should be accordant with the specifications established in one region. There are numerous categories of vehicles which are appropriate to serve in the LTL, but they must be always correctly suited to the kind of the products which are going to be a part of the cargo.

The price of the transportation is calculated depending on several factors. First of all, content and mass of the cargo. The person who order a shipment need to also provide a carrier data about the way the product is packed. You should also mention what you wish to be covered by the service – is it no more than the shipment or does it also include loading and unloading.

When it turns out that the cargo space available via the LTL does not suffice to ship your product, you can use its alternative – full truck load (FTL).
