Less than Truckload (LTL)

Less than Truckload (LTL) poses a useful form of transport of a not big freight that does not need a big area and can be very often transported on pallets. Less that Truckload makes use of unused area in the truck by putting together more than one separate freightages. Less than Truckload is cost-effective as companies can split the price of the shipment with other people that also have a need to take some part of the area available in the truck. LTL shipments usually have a weight of between 151 and 20,000 pounds.

Vehicles that are used in the LTL have a weight of more than 3.5 tons and are required to be accordant with the specifications being in force in a particular location. There are numerous kinds of trucks which may serve in the LTL shipping, but they should be always adequately suited to the size of the products that will be transported.

The price of the shipping is a result of several aspects. First of all, height and width and weight of the object. The person who order a shipment need to also provide a delivery man an information about the way the product is packed. You should also mention what you expect to be covered by the service – is it no more than the transportation or does it also include loading and unloading.

In case that it turns out that the cargo space available via the LTL does not meet your requirements to ship your cargo, you could decide to use a different option – full truck load (FTL).
