Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) constitutes a useful method of transportation of a not big product which does not take a lot of space and can be often stored on pallets. It takes advantage of extra surface in the car by putting together a few different cargos. Less than Truckload is cheaper because principals may share the shipment cost with other people who also have to take some part of the surface available in the car. LTL shipments usually have a weight of between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Cars specialised in the LTL have a weight of more than 3.5 tons and need to be accordant with the arrangements established in one location. There are plentiful of types of trucks which are fit to serve in the LTL, but they should be always adequately suited to the size of the commodity which are going to be a part of the cargo.

The cost of the delivery is dependent on a few factors. Primarly, volume and weight of the cargo. The person who order a shipment should also give a transporter an information about the way the product is packed. It is also worth mentioning what you wish to be covered by the service – is it nothing but the transport or does it also cover loading and unloading.

Assuming that you notice that volume available via the less than truckload does not meet your requirements to ship your object, you could decide to use a different option – full truck load (FTL).
