Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) is an effective method of transportation of a not big consignment which does not require a big area and may be often kept on pallets. LTL utilizes spare area in the car by merging a few distinct freightages. This method is cost-effective as principals may share the shipment cost with the others who also have to take a fraction of the cargo space available in the truck. LTL cargos typically weigh between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Vehicles which are used in the LTL have a weight of over 3.5 t and have to be in accordance with the specifications established in a given location. There are many types of vehicles which could serve in the LTL shipping, but they have to be always appropriately suited to the type of the elements that are going to be delivered.

The price of the transportation is subject to a few aspects. Firstly, size and mass of the object. The person who order a shipment should also provide a transporter an information about the way the product is packed. It is also worth mentioning what you expect to be included in the service – is it simply the transport or does it also include loading and unloading.

In case that you realise that area available via the less than truckload does not suffice to dispatch your product, you may want to decide to use another option – full truck load (FTL).
