Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) represents a good form of shipment of a smaller commodity that does not demand a big surface and is very often kept on pallets. LTL makes use of unused area in the truck by merging several different cargos. Less than Truckload is economical since businesses may distribute the transportation costs with the others who also want to use some part of the space available in the truck. LTL freightages mostly weigh between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Trucks specialised in the LTL weigh over 3.5 t and should be accordant with the rules established in a particular country. There are plentiful of kinds of vehicles that are appropriate to be used in the LTL shipping, but they should be always appropriately tailored to the size of the products that will be transported.

The cost of the delivery is calculated depending on a few factors. First of all, content and mass of the freightage. The person who order a shipment should also give a delivery man an information about the way the product is packed. Don’t forget to mention what you expect to be incorporated in the service – is it simply the transport or does it also cover loading and unloading.

In case that you notice that area available via the LTL is not enough to dispatch your product, you may use another option – full truck load (FTL).
