Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) represents a useful form of shipment of a relatively small commodity which does not necessitate a spacious place and is very often stored on pallets. LTL makes use of available surface in the car by a consolidation of a few different cargos. This method is cheaper as principals may share the shipment cost with the others who also want to take a fraction of the space available in the car. LTL freightages normally weigh between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Vehicles that are used in the LTL have a weight of over 3.5 tons and should be congruous with the requirements established in a given region. There are numerous kinds of trucks that may serve in the LTL, but they must be always properly suited to the type of the commodity that will be dispatched.

The cost of the shipment is calculated depending on several aspects. Firstly, magnitude and mass of the cargo. The person ordering need to also present a transporter an information about the way the product is packed. Don’t forget to mention what you wish to be incorporated in the service – is it only the transport or does it also cover loading and unloading.

When you realise that the cargo space available via the LTL does not suffice to ship your product, you could decide to use a different option – full truck load (FTL).
