Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) is an effective method of transportation of a small freight which does not need a big area and is often stored on pallets. LTL takes advantage of available space in the car by putting together a few autonomous freightages. LTL is economical as people can distribute the price of the shipment with other people who also have to use a fraction of the area available in the car. LTL freightages usually have a weight of between 151 and 20,000 pounds.

Cars that are used in the LTL have a weight of more than 3.5 t and must be compatible with the specifications established in one region. There are numerous types of trucks which could be part of the LTL, but they should be always correctly tailored to the dimension of the products which will be delivered.

The charge for the shipment is a result of a few factors. Primarly, magnitude and weight of the product. The person ordering need to also give a transporter an information about the packaging. You should also mention what you wish to be included in the service – is it only the shipment or does it also consist of loading and unloading.

Whenever you realise that area available via the less than truckload is not sufficient to ship your product, you should make use of a different option – full truck load (FTL).
